New Home Sales Decline in June. Previous Months Revised Lower

On a Non-Seasonal basis New Home sales for June 2015 were 45,000, lower than May 2015 revised number of 48,000 and lower than April's revised number of 50,000. On a year to year basis June 2015 sales were higher than June 2014 sales of 38,000.

Year to Date sales for 2015 of 274,000 are ahead of last year's YTD figure of 226,000.

The median sales price of new houses sold in June 2015 was $281,800; the average sales price was $328,700. The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of June was 215,000. This represents a supply of 5.4 months at the current sales rate.

Note: Existing home sales are counted when transactions are closed, and new home sales are counted when contracts are signed. So the timing of sales is different.
